               SOLS at Savannah High March 5, 2025 School Council Meeting Minutes/Notes

  • Savannah High was recognized as an AP Honors Challenge School!  AP Challenge Schools are Schools with enrollments of 900 or fewer students and students testing in English, math, science, and social studies.
  •  Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods has named eight Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools for 2025.  AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit.
  • Savannah High Mindfulness Room/World Café Day with the Deep Center: Faculty and Staff participated in a Professional Development Session where they learned about the importance and benefits of taking the time out to decompress during the school day. The mindfulness room was created just for that! Students will have the opportunity to decompress during the school day as well by visiting the mindfulness room! Faculty and Staff learned about the importance of maintaining a positive school culture and learning that we all play a key role when it comes to family engagement and having efficient and effective communication with parents, guardians and families as it relates to their child’s academics!
  •  Varsity Boys Basketball Team will be playing in the State Championship on March 7th in Macon, Georgia
  •  Our Blue Jacket Band will be playing in the LPGE (Large Performance Group Evaluator/District Festival Competition on March 7th
  •  Savannah High was recognized with the LightSail Usage Reading Achievement Award! We had the highest percentage in the entire district!
  •  Savannah State University Upward Bound and Savannah High will be hosting a “Parent Night” on March 12th at 6:00pm. The purpose of the event is to share with parents and scholars about the valuable and great opportunities that SSU Upward Bound has to offer!
  •  Savannah High and the DEEP Center will be collaborating on a Family Engagement/Open Mic Night! The event will be in the first week of May!
